Anti-Tumor Strategies of Photothermal Therapy Combined with Other Therapies Using Nanoplatforms

open access: yesPharmaceutics
Conventional cancer treatments often have complications and serious side effects, with limited improvements in 5-year survival and quality of life. Photothermal therapy (PTT) employs materials that convert light to heat when exposed to near-infrared ...

Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.

Synthetic Strategy for mRNA Encapsulation and Gene Delivery with Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research utilizes the ZIF‐8 for the encapsulation and intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, specifically mRNA, for applications in gene delivery. Integrating PEI addresses the issue of mRNA leakage from ZIF‐8, resulting in the delivery and expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP) in vitro and firefly luciferase in vivo.

HODDI: A Dataset of High-Order Drug-Drug Interactions for Computational Pharmacovigilance [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Drug-side effect research is vital for understanding adverse reactions arising in complex multi-drug therapies. However, the scarcity of higher-order datasets that capture the combinatorial effects of multiple drugs severely limits progress in this field. Existing resources such as TWOSIDES primarily focus on pairwise interactions.

A Bioengineered Model of the Human Cornea for Preclinical Assessment of Human Ocular Exposure to Environmental Toxicants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
This paper presents a microphysiological system containing an array of individually addressable living corneal tissues constructed using primary human cells. The bioengineered eye model can simulate acute exposure of the human cornea to different types of environmental toxicants and provides a novel platform for visualization and quantitative ...
