Impact of rainfall on Aedes aegypti populations [PDF]
Aedes aegypti is the main vector of multiple diseases, such as Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya. Due to modifications in weather patterns, its geographical range is continuously evolving. Temperature is a key factor for its expansion into regions with cool winters, but rainfall can also have a strong impact on the colonization of these regions, since ...

ABSTRACT Herbivorous insects need to cope with changing host plant biochemistry caused by abiotic and biotic impacts, to meet their dietary requirements. Larvae of the multivoltine European grapevine moth Lobesia botrana, one of the main insect pests in viticulture, feed on both flowers and berries.

Influence of the competition in the spatial dynamics of a population of Aedes mosquitoes [PDF]
In this article, we investigate a competitive reaction-diffusion system modelling the interaction between several species of mosquitoes. In particular, it has been observed that in tropical regions, Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are well established in urban area whereas Aedes albopictus mosquitoes spread widely in forest region. The aim of this paper is to

The principal arboviral vector Aedes aegypti can develop in coastal brackish water field habitats (0.5–15 g/L salt) with larvae possessing thicker cuticles and greater resistance to the larvicide Temephos. Females emerging from brackish water‐developing preimaginal stages are now shown to have thicker and remodelled leg and abdominal cuticles and ...

We identified Culex pipiens bloodmeals at the species level in natural, agricultural and peri‐urban habitats and calculated host preferences based on forage ratios. This analysis showed Passeriformes, and in particular Columba livia, Passer montanus and Turdus sp., to be the preferred Cx. pipiens hosts.

Morin hydrate promoted mortality and reduced the rate of pupation and egg laying in Aedes aegypti larvae that survive treatment. Morin hydrate reduces the levels of triacylglycerol, the main lipid reserve in A. aegypti larvae. The expression of proteins involved in lipogenesis and lipolysis was downregulated and upregulated, respectively, in larvae ...
