Metabolism Difference Is Involved in Mesosulfuron-Methyl Selectivity between Aegilops tauschii and Triticum aestivum.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2022
The acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor mesosulfuron-methyl is currently the only selective herbicide to control Aegilops tauschii in wheat fields; however, the mechanism underlying this selectivity remains unclear. Results showed that the tolerance of

Distribution and diversity of Aegilops tauschii in Iran

Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, 2007
The wide morphological variation of Aegilops tauschii has led to the distinction of different subspecies; a typical ssp. tauschii and a second ssp. strangulata. However some researchers pointed out the existance of the intermediate form among morphologically distinguished subspecies.

Mutual Allelopathic Effect between Invasive Plant Aegilops tauschii and Wheat

International Journal of Agriculture and Biology
The Aegilops tauschii Coss. is a worldwide invasion weed. The competitions between A. tauschii and native species not only caused serious influence on ecosystem structure and succession, moreover, it poses a greater threat to the safety of food ...

Improving the herbicidal activity of mesosulfuron‐methyl oil dispersion against Aegilops tauschii by decreasing particle size and adding adjuvant polyvinyl alcohol

Pest Management Science
Mesosulfuron‐methyl (MSM) is currently the only available selective herbicide for controlling Aegilops tauschii in wheat fields. Improving the control performance of MSM against Ae. tauschii is crucial for ensuring wheat yield.

Transcriptomic analysis of Aegilops tauschii during long-term salinity stress

Functional & Integrative Genomics, 2018
Aegilops tauschii is the diploid progenitor of the bread wheat D-genome. It originated from Iran and is a source of abiotic stress tolerance genes. However, little is known about the molecular events of salinity tolerance in Ae. tauschii. This study investigates the leaf transcriptional changes associated with long-term salt stress. Total RNA extracted

Characterization of low-molecular-weight glutenin genes in Aegilops tauschii

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2004
This paper reports the characterization of the low-molecular-weight (LMW) glutenin gene family of Aegilops tauschii (syn. Triticum tauschii), the D-genome donor of hexaploid wheat. By analysis of bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones positive for hybridization with an LMW glutenin probe, seven unique LMW glutenin genes were identified.

Seed protein and isozyme variations in Triticum tauschii (Aegilops squarrosa)

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1993
Sixty Triticum tauschii (Aegilops squarrosa, 2n=2x=14, DD) accessions were evaluated for the variability of high-molecular-weight (HMW) glutenins, gliadins and isozymes of seed esterase, β-amylase and glucose-phosphate isomerase. Wide variability was observed for HMW-glutenins and gliadins.

Rmg10, a novel wheat blast resistance gene derived from Aegilops tauschii.

Phytopathology
Wheat blast, caused by Pyricularia oryzae (syn. Magnaporthe oryzae) pathotype Triticum (MoT), is a devastating disease that can result in up to 100% yield loss in affected fields.

Evaluation of Aegilops tauschii and Aegilops speltoides for acquired thermotolerance: Implications in wheat breeding programmes

Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2015
Severe and frequent heat waves are predicted in the near future having dramatic and far-reaching ecological and social impact. The aim of this study was to examine acquired thermotolerance of two Aegilops species: Aegilops tauschii and Aegilops speltoides and study their potential adaptive mechanisms. The effect of two episodes of high heat stress (45 °

Evaluation of Aegilops tauschii Cosson for preharvest sprouting tolerance

Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, 1998
On day 21, total germination percentages of threshed seeds of Ae. tauschii ranged from 0.0 to 92.6, indicating a large variation in preharvest sprouting tolerance. Out of 46 Ae. tauschii accessions, seven had a germination index lower than ten, which indicates good tolerance to preharvest sprouting and usefulness for common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
