Aeration and De-Aeration at Bottom Aeration Devices on Spillways [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Aeration devices are introduced along chute spillways and at bottom outlets to prevent cavitation damage in high velocity flows. Bottom aerators are characterised by large quantities of air entrained along the jet interfaces but also by a strong de ...

Systematically Engineering for Efficient Production of 3‐Methyl‐1‐Butanol in Escherichia coli

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated metabolic engineering strategy was established for high‐level 3‐methyl‐1‐butanol biosynthesis in Escherichia coli. Molecular dynamics‐guided semi‐rational engineering of dihydroxyacid dehydratase uncovered and relieved key catalytic bottlenecks, while adaptive laboratory evolution enhanced strain robustness.

Removal of radionuclides from Estonian groundwater using aeration, oxidation, and filtration; pp. 58–64 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2012
Groundwater in the north-eastern suburb of Tallinn was analysed to determine the content of iron, manganese, sulphides, ammonia, and radionuclides (Ra226, Ra228) and total radioactivity. It was established that for several wells of the Cambrian–Vendian

Is the critical Shields stress for incipient sediment motion dependent on channel-bed slope? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Data from laboratory flumes and natural streams show that the critical Shields stress for initial sediment motion increases with channel slope, which indicates that particles of the same size are more stable on steeper slopes.

Intervalo hídrico ótimo no perfil explorado pelas raízes de feijoeiro em um latossolo sob diferentes níveis de compactação Least limiting water range in an oxisol profile penetrated by common bean roots under different compaction levels
