Background of patients with Aerococcus spp. detected in blood cultures, and drug sensitivity of Aerococcus spp.

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 2021
This study aimed to review the clinical characteristics of patients with Aerococcus spp. detected by blood culture, and drug susceptibility of Aerococcus spp. All cases of Aerococcus spp. determined using blood culture between June 2013 and May 2020 in a single institution were included; patient information (age, sex, comorbidities, outcome, diagnosis,

Lymphadenitis Caused by Aerococcus urinae Infection

Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2003
Aerococcus urinae is rarely reported as a human pathogen. The pathogenesis of this gram-positive coccus is not fully understood. It has been identified as a cause of urinary tract infections but may be associated with severe infections such as endocarditis and septicaemia. This paper presents a case of lymphadenitis caused by A. urinae.

Fatal endocarditis due to Aerococcus urinae

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1995
Aerococcus species are Gram-positive cocci having Gram-stain characteristics of staphylococci (i.e., form clusters), but biochemical and growth characteristics resembling streptococci and enterococci (i.e., catalase-negative, alpha-hemolytic growth on blood agar). A case of fatal endocarditis due to Aerococcus urinae is presented.

Aerococcus urinae: polyphasic characterization of the species

APMIS, 2005
A polyphasic characterization of Aerococcus urinae is presented. In this study the intraspecies relationships between 26 strains of varying geographical origin were examined by phenotypic tests, ribotyping and multilocus enzyme electrophoresis. The results demonstrated two main phenotypic patterns that could be distinguished in tests for hydrolysis of ...

Spondylodiscitis due to Aerococcus urinae: A First Report

Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2003
Aerococcus urinae is an uncommon urinary tract pathogen which causes infections predominantly in elderly persons with local and general predisposing conditions. There are few case reports of severe infections caused by Aerococcus urinae among which only 14 cases of endocarditis caused by Aerococcus urinae have been reported. We report the first case of
