POTENTIATION OF PROBIOTIC ACTIVITY BY SIMULTANEOUS USE OF AEROCOCCUS VIRIDANS AND MYCOBACTERIUM VACCAE

open access: yesScientific and Technical Bulletin оf State Scientific Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medical Products and Fodder Additives аnd Institute of Animal Biology, 2023
In modern animal husbandry, progressive intensive technologies for keeping animals and the productive exploitation of animals are economically efficient, but they deplete the physiological reserves of the body and lead to undesirable pathophysiological ...

Nutritional Requirements for Growth of Aerococcus viridans [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1970
SUMMARY: Vitamin requirements for growth in a casein hydrolysate medium were determined for 27 strains of Aerococcus viridans from diverse sources. Panto-thenic acid, nicotinic acid and biotin were either absolutely required by, or markedly stimulatory to, all strains; none required thiamin, riboflavin, pyridoxine, folic acid or folinic acid.

Genetic basis of antibiotic resistance in Aerococcus viridans [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1989
Resistance to at least one of the following antibiotics was found in eight wild-type strains of Aerococcus viridans: erythromycin (six strains), tetracycline and minocycline (five strains), chloramphenicol (one strain), and high levels of streptomycin (one strain).

Purification of the viridicin produced by Aerococcus viridans [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1980
A new bacteriocin produced by Aerococcus viridans was purified. Bacteria grown on liquid medium synthesized a bacteriocin, viridicin, which can be extracted from the cells by treatment with 0.86 M NaCl solution. Viridicin production was not induced by ultraviolet irradiation or by treatment with mitomycin C.

Evaluation of matrix-assisted laser desorption ionisation time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) for the Identification of Group B Streptococcus. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Objective Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a leading cause of neonatal meningitis and sepsis worldwide. Intrapartum antibiotics given to women carrying GBS are an effective means of reducing disease in the first week of life.

Penicillin-resistant Aerococcus viridans Bacteremia Associated with Granulocytopenia [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Korean Medical Science, 2002
Aerococcus viridans, a catalase-negative gram-positive coccus rarely causing bacteremia, was isolated from blood cultures of a 52-yr-old man under the granulocytopenic condition. The isolate showed the typical characteristics of A. viridans, i.e., tetrad arrangements in gram stain, positive pyrrolidonyl aminopeptidase (PYR) and negative leucine ...

Prevalence of sulfonamide resistance genes in bacterial isolates from manured agricultural soils and pig slurry in the United Kingdom [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Prevalence of three sulfonamide resistance genes, sul1, sul2 and sul3 and sulfachloropyridazine (SCP) resistance was determined in bacteria isolated from UK manured agricultural clay soils and slurry samples, over a two year period.

Diversity and enumeration of halophilic and alkaliphilic bacteria in Spanish-style green table-olive fermentations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
© 2015 Elsevier Ltd. The presence and enumeration of halophilic and alkaliphilic bacteria in Spanish-style table-olive fermentations was studied. Twenty 10-tonne fermenters at two large manufacturing companies in Spain, previously studied through both ...

Aerococcus spp infective endocarditis following a prostate biopsy: a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We report a rare case of an infective endocarditis by Aerococcus spp in a bioprosthetic aortic valve following a prostate biopsy, in an asymptomatic adult with no additional risk factor for prostate cancer, excepting for age.

Case Report: A rare case of prosthetic valve infective endocarditis caused by Aerococcus urinae [version 3; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2018
Infective endocarditis (IE) is a serious and life-threatening cardiac condition, most commonly caused by staphylococci, Streptococcus viridans, and enterococci. However, in special settings, IE can be caused by rare organisms.
