Aerodynamic Noise Calculation of a Detaching Flow

4th International Symposium on Fluid-Structure Interactions, Aeroelasticity, Flow-Induced Vibration and Noise: Volume I, 1997
Abstract A numerical study based on the macro-simulation method is carried out in order to determine the aerodynamical noise of a turbulent detaching flow. The macro-simulation method uses a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) code to obtain at the same time, the large structures of the flow and the small structures modelled by a sub-grid eddy ...

Design and Aerodynamic Calculation of a Novel Sail

2011 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2011
A new kind of airfoil sail is proposed in this paper based on NACA006 aerofoil and arc wing sail. The aerodynamic characteristic is numerically simulated with FLUENT software based on standard K-e model under different wind directions of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 angles respectively. Lift coefficients and drag coefficients were calculated, which verified bigger

On the Calculation of External Aerodynamics: Industrial Benchmarks

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2001
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The paper presents the-state-of-the-art numerical simulation of the flow around vehicles by examining a number of various industrial benchmarks. A selection of results, obtained by a finite volume numerical code based on the Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) approach, illustrates the capability of ...

Aerodynamics of industrial buildings: aerodynamic calculations in the design of ventilation emissions

2018
Recommendations, methods and dependences necessary for calculation of wind impact on industrial buildings and for design of ventilation processes taking into account the aerodynamic situation on the site are given in a systematic form. Calculation methods and recommendations are based on the results of the author's own theoretical and experimental ...

Calculation of aerodynamic characteristics of arrays of profiles of arbitrary shape

Fluid Dynamics, 1972
It is well known that the problem on nonseparating potential flow of an incompressible fluid about an array of profiles reduces to an integral equation for a certain real function, determined on the contours of the profiles of the array. As such a function one can take, as was done, for instance, in [1–5], the relative velocity of the fluid on the ...

Calculation of real-gas effects on airfoil aerodynamic characteristics

5th Joint Thermophysics and Heat Transfer Conference, 1990
The effects of high temperature thermochemical phenomena on the aerodynamic characteristics at hypersonic speeds are calculated for two-dimensional airfoils in air. The calculations are performed on an airfoil similar to that used for the Space Shuttle Orbiter, and ellipses of thickness ratios varying between 5 and 15 percent.

Numerical Calculation of Impulsive and Indicial Aerodynamic Responses Using Computational Aerodynamics Techniques

Journal of Aircraft, 2008
The present work presents a detailed study on the numerical calculation of impulsive and indicial unsteady aerodynamic responses with modern computational fluid dynamics solvers. A brief historical background on this subject is presented, and it is shown how new interpretations of computational fluid dynamics solvers as discrete-time systems change the

Chebyshev Polynomials for Unsteady Aerodynamic Calculations in Aeroservoelasticity

Journal of Aircraft, 2006
The aerodynamic forces in the reduced frequency domain have to be approximated in the Laplace domain, in order to study the effects of the control laws on the flexible aircraft structure. This type of approximation of unsteady generalized aerodynamic forces from the frequency domain into the Laplace domain, acting on a Fly-By-Wire aircraft, presents an

Aerodynamic Forces and Their Calculation in Insect Flight

1975
There are several ways to determine the aerodynamic forces produced by flying insects e. g. by measurement with a balance during flight or by calculation with known kinematical data. The latter could be done in the following way: first by calculation of the rotation velocities of several wing points, adding the velocities to the translation speed ...
