Experimental study of aerodynamic damping in arrays of vibrating cantilevers
Cantilever structures vibrating in a fluid are encountered in numerous engineering applications. The aerodynamic loading from a fluid can have a large effect on both the resonance frequency and damping, and has been the subject of numerous studies. The aerodynamic loading on a single beam is altered when multiple beams are configured in an array.

Geometry‐Dependent Adhesion in Transparent Monodomain Liquid Crystal Elastomers
Liquid Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) are emerging as exciting pressure‐sensitive adhesives. We examine adhesion in chemically identical elastomer films, exploring the influence of geometry (director orientation) and phase (nematic or isotropic). We demonstrate the potential of these aligned films as transparent, tunable, broad‐temperature‐range smart ...

Study on the Flow Control of the Airfoil Dynamic Stall Using the Co-flow Jet
Dynamic stall control is of great significance for enhancement of the airfoil aerodynamic characteristics. In the present study, the co-flow jet(CFJ) flow control method is numerically investigated to control the dynamic stall caused by the pitching ...

Missile Aerodynamics for Ascent and Re-entry [PDF]
Aerodynamic force and moment equations are developed for 6-DOF missile simulations of both the ascent phase of flight and a tumbling re-entry. The missile coordinate frame (M frame) and a frame parallel to the M frame were used for formulating the ...

Spatially Tailorable Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Alignment During Digital Light Process 3D Printing
Here, we report the fabrication of 3D printable liquid crystalline elastomer (LCE) structures with spatially tailorable alignment domains within the same layer. This work addresses the long‐standing challenge of preparing complex 3D LCE architectures with patterned functional domains to achieve nonlinear deformations. Fabrication of multi‐domains in 3D

Role of Histidine‐Containing Peptoids in Accelerating the Kinetics of Calcite Growth
Amphiphilic histidine‐containing peptoids mimic carbonic anhydrase (CA) to accelerate calcite step growth. In the presence of Zn2+, they promote the deprotonation of HCO3−, the desolvation of Ca2+, and the reorganization of interfacial hydration layers, thereby reducing the activation barrier for calcite growth.

In this report, we demonstrate that a crystalline phase of 52nm thick NiFe2O4 can be grown by RF sputtering on top of γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 at a significantly low temperature (150 °C) without compromising the mobility and carrier density of the 2D electron gas at the γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 interface.

Fluorine‐Free Soft Nanocomposites for High‐Speed Liquid Impact Repellence
Fluorine‐free soft nanocomposite coatings are developed using silicone oil‐mediated mechanical‐stiffness control, enabling ‘dry’ liquid‐repellent surfaces that resist high‐speed water jet impacts up to ∼60 m/s. By tuning nanoparticle loading and oil content, the coatings also achieve >90% optical transparency, amphiphobicity with impact resistance to ...

Study on damping characteristics of steam turbine hollow vane with damper
A vane used in a low pressure end of steam turbine is usually fixed to a shroud and a casing by welding both ends. In such a vane structure, the damping in loading operation is comprised of the material damping and the aerodynamic damping, because the ...
