Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Turbomachinery aerodynamic and aeromechanic design optimization using the adjoint method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The thesis documents the investigation of the application of the adjoint method to turbomachinery blading design optimization, with emphasis on blading aerodynamic design optimization in a multi-bladerow environment and concurrent blading aerodynamic and

Design and aerodynamic investigation of dynamic architecture [PDF]

open access: yesInnovative Infrastructure Solutions, 2016
The effect of the spacing between adjacent building floors on the wind distribution and turbulence intensity was analysed using computational fluid dynamics in this study. Five computational models were created with floor spacing ranging from 0.8 m (benchmark) to 1.6 m.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Transonic aerodynamic loads modeling of X-31 aircraft

open access: yes, 2012
The generation of reduced order models for computing the unsteady and nonlinear aerodynamic loads on the X-31 aircraft from pitching motions in the transonic speed range is described.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Assessing the impact of aerodynamic modelling on manoeuvring aircraft

open access: yes, 2014
This paper investigates the impact of aerodynamic models on the dynamic response of a free-flying aircraft wing. Several options for the aerodynamics are evaluated, from two-dimensional thin aerofoil aerodynamics and unsteady vortex-lattice method up to ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
