Numerical study on the aerodynamic performance of the three-dimensional wing of a jellyfish-like flyer

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
The jellyfish-like flying machine is a new development direction of the future bionic flapping-wing aircraft besides the insect-mimic and bird-mimic micro air vehicles (MAVs).

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

The comparison of aerodynamic and stability characteristics between conventional and blended wing body aircraft [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Aircraft with advanced wing geometry, like the flying wing or blended wing body configuration, seems to be the seed candidate of future aircraft. Compared with conventional aircraft, there are significant aerodynamic performance improvements because of ...

Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Multi-disciplinary design of wings for transport aircraft operating at high subsonic speed [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In this thesis a methodology for designing wings for transport aircraft operating at high subsonic speed is investigated. Several methods are studied, including more accurate methods such as the computational methods. These are used as an addition to
