Aerodynamic performance of scarf inlets [PDF]

open access: yes17th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1979
A scarf inlet is characterized by having a longer lower lip than upper lip leading to both aerodynamic and acoustic advantages. Aerodynamically, a scarf inlet has higher angle of attack capability and is less likely to ingest foreign objects while the aircraft is on the ground.

Estimation of Airship Aerodynamic Forces and Torques Using Extended Kalman Filter

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
An airship is a lighter than air, aerial vehicle whose model is based on dynamic, aerodynamic, aerostatic and propulsion forces and torques. Apart from other, aerodynamic forces and toques are difficult to measure.

A Coupled Effect Model of Two-Position Local Geometric Deviations on Subsonic Blade Aerodynamic Performance

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The coupled aerodynamic performance influence of multiple deviations in the blade profile is a complex phenomena. In this paper, a high-pressure compressor rotor blade mid-span profile is studied with the design of experiments (DOE), numerical simulation

Aerodynamic Performance of Two eVTOL Concepts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Today’s demand for urban mobility is constantly growing due to the demographic changes observed in metropolitan areas. New concepts such as electrical vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles are currently emerging. Therefore an aerodynamic investigation of two eVTOL vehicle concepts is carried out to identify the advantages and disadvantages of ...

Cognitive Functioning in Vorinostat‐Treated Pediatric and Young Adult Patients Over the First 180 Days After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Cognitive and psychological difficulties could negatively interfere with treatment adherence and quality of life before and after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Methods to mitigate these changes may have positive effects on treatment success.

Data-driven aerodynamic shape optimization of rotor airfoils based on deep learning

open access: yesAdvances in Aerodynamics
As the fundamental component of rotor blades, the airfoil dominates the aerodynamic performance of helicopter rotors. The aerodynamic shape optimization of rotor airfoils is thus an effective means of improving their aerodynamic performance.

CPX‐351 in High‐Risk Relapsed Pediatric Acute Leukemia: Real‐World Phase 1 Data Establishing the FDA‐Approved Dose

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Outcomes for pediatric relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remain dismal. CPX‐351, a liposomal formulation of cytarabine and daunorubicin, may have less off‐target toxicities than traditional chemotherapies and has shown improved outcomes for adults with newly diagnosed therapy‐related AML.

Improving the Evaluation and Management of Transfusion‐Related Iron Overload in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults Following Cancer Treatment or Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Transfusion‐related iron overload (TRIO) is a late effect of therapy impacting survivors of childhood cancer and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) who receive frequent packed red blood cell (pRBC) transfusions. Surprisingly, there are no accepted guidelines to assist providers in identifying and treating at‐risk ...
