Taxonomic classification of genus Aeromonas using open reading frame-based binarized structure network analysis

open access: yesFujita Medical Journal
Objectives: Taxonomic assignment based on whole-genome sequencing data facilitates clear demarcation of species within a complex genus. Here, we applied a unique pan-genome phylogenetic method, open reading frame (ORF)-based binarized structure network ...

Comparing Prophylactic Administration of Sulbactam/Ampicillin Versus Cefmetazole for Prevention of Perineal Wound Infection Following Abdominoperineal Resection for Rectal Cancer: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 10, Issue 1, Page 15-24, January 2026.
This prospective randomized trial demonstrated that a 4‐day regimen of sulbactam/ampicillin significantly reduced the incidence of perineal wound infection (PWI) following abdominoperineal resection compared to a 1‐day cefmetazole regimen. This simple approach to antibiotic selection may be beneficial for preventing PWI.

Reassessment of the enteropathogenicity of mesophilic Aeromonas species

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Cases of Aeromonas diarrhea have been described all over the world. The genus Aeromonas includes ca. 30 species, of which 10 have been isolated in association with gastroenteritis. The dominating species that account for ca. 96% of the identified strains

Chemical Constituents and Biological Activities of Oxandra (Annonaceae): A Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Oxandra (Annonaceae) comprises 29 species distributed across South and Central America. Despite this diversity, the genus remains under‐investigated. This study presents the first comprehensive review of the chemical composition and biological activities of Oxandra species, utilizing databases such as SciFinder, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and ...

Host Genetics and the Skin Microbiome Independently Predict Parasite Resistance

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Host genetic selection and skin microbiome independently predict infection severity of ectoparasites. Furthermore, both factors together explain infection significantly better than either alone. ABSTRACT Host responses to parasite infection involve several interacting systems.

Comprehensive Analysis Reveals the Evolution and Pathogenicity of Aeromonas, Viewed from Both Single Isolated Species and Microbial Communities

open access: yesmSystems, 2019
The genus Aeromonas is a common gastrointestinal pathogen associated with human and animal infections. Due to the high level of cross-species similarity, their evolutionary dynamics and genetic diversity are still fragmented.
