Towards sustainable water disinfection with peracetic acid in aquaculture: A review
Abstract Peracetic acid (PAA) has a long history as an efficacious and eco‐friendly disinfectant. It was first synthesised in 1902, and since then a wide range of applications has been developed in various industries. Aquaculture is a more recent industry wherein the potential of PAA is significant.

Centimetre scale functional dispersal limitation of freshwater copiotrophs
We studied copiotrophic freshwater bacteria enriched on 33 substrates during a toxic cyanobacterial bloom. Communities from directly collected 10 ml samples consumed less substrates than those from equal volumes of pre‐homogenized larger samples.

Effective qPCR methodology to quantify the expression of virulence genes in Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida [PDF]
This study aimed to select and validate different methodological strategies to quantify the expression of the virulence genes ascC and ascV by qPCR in Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida (Aer. salmonicida).Using the geNorm, Normfinder and BestKeeper algorithms, reference genes for the qPCR were selected based on their in vitro expression ...

Inactivated Aeromonas salmonicida impairs adaptive immunity in lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus)
Abstract Aeromonas salmonicida, a widely distributed aquatic pathogen causing furunculosis in fish, exhibits varied virulence, posing challenges in infectious disease and immunity studies, notably in vaccine efficacy assessment. Lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) has become a valuable model for marine pathogenesis studies.

Abstract A field study comparing two vaccine regimes against pancreas disease (PD) was carried out in 2018 S0 year class smolts at two commercial sea cage sites in southern Norway. The fish from the same hatchery source were immunized using licensed vaccines; either a DNA PD vaccine and a hexavalent oil‐adjuvanted vaccine (group A), or a heptavalent ...
