Solution‐Shearing of Highly Smooth Ion‐Gel Thin Films: Facilitating the Deposition of Organic Semiconductors for Ion‐Gated Organic Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 6, May 2025.
A straightforward method is introduced to produce ion‐gel films with very low surface roughness by employing a solution‐shearing coating process. These ion‐gel films permit the growth of crystalline thin films of various small molecule organic semiconductor molecules directly on top of the ion‐gel layer, thereby enabling “inverted” small molecule ...

Aerosol optical depth in the European Brewer Network [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2018
Abstract. Aerosols play an important role in key atmospheric processes and feature high spatial and temporal variabilities. This has motivated scientific interest in the development of networks capable of measuring aerosol properties over large geographical areas in near-real time. In this work we present and discuss results of an aerosol optical depth

In Situ Electrostatic Charge‐Assisted Wetting for Enhancing Interfacial Strength of Printed Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an in situ electrostatic charge‐assisted wetting method to enhance the interfacial strength of aerosol jet printing. By depositing negative charges on the substrate, the technique improves ink wetting and interfacial properties, achieving up to 85.6% higher interfacial shear strength.

Aerosol Optical Properties and Type Retrieval via Machine Learning and an All-Sky Imager

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
This study investigates the applicability of using the sky information from an all-sky imager (ASI) to retrieve aerosol optical properties and type. Sky information from the ASI, in terms of Red-Green-Blue (RGB) channels and sun saturation area, are ...

Earth observations from DSCOVR EPIC instrument [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) spacecraft was launched on 11 February 2015 and in June 2015 achieved its orbit at the first Lagrange point (L1), 1.5 million km from Earth toward the sun.

Aerosol optical depth measurements during the Aerosols99 experiment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, 2001
The Aerosols99 cruise took place during the period from January 14 to February 8, 1999, on the R/V Ronald Brown. The cruise track was almost a straight line in the southeast direction from Norfolk, Virginia, to Cape Town, South Africa, and afforded the opportunity to sample several different aerosol regimes over the North and South Atlantic.

Mechanistic Insights Into Photocatalytic Materials for Toxic Pollutants: Environmental Remediation of Personal Care Products

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Photocatalytic materials have emerged as promising solutions for environmental applications due to their ability to degrade organic pollutants under sunlight or artificial light. In this review, recent progress on the photocatalytic materials used for the degradation of pharmaceutical personal care products (PPCPs) in environmental ...

Modeling the distribution of the volcanic aerosol cloud from the 1783–1784 Laki eruption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We conducted simulations of the atmospheric transformation and transport of the emissions of the 1783–1784 Laki basaltic flood lava eruption (64.10°N, 17.15°W) using the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies modelE climate model coupled to a sulfur ...

Integrated Evaluation of Contaminant Profiles, Detection Techniques, and Management Strategies for Tannery Sludge

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review article critically examines the environmental and health hazards of tannery sludge (TS), a complex by‐product of the leather tanning industry. TS is characterized by a diverse array of contaminants, including heavy metals like chromium, organic pollutants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), volatile organic compounds ...

Impacts of increasing aridity and wildfires on aerosol loading in the intermountain Western US

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2017
Feedbacks between climate warming, land surface aridity, and wildfire-derived aerosols represent a large source of uncertainty in future climate predictions.
