Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Global and regional trends of Aerosol Optical Thickness derived using satellite- and ground-based observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Atmospheric aerosol plays a critical role for human health, air quality, long range transport of pollution, and the Earth s radiative balance, thereby influencing global climate change.

European Society of Contact Dermatitis Guideline for Diagnostic Patch Testing—Recommendations on Best Practice (Update 2026)

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The present guideline updates the initial ESCD patch testing guideline, summarizing all aspects of patch testing for the diagnosis of contact allergy in patients suspected of suffering, or having been suffering, from allergic contact dermatitis or other delayed‐type hypersensitivity skin and mucosal conditions. Sections with brief descriptions

Papers Finding the aerosol optical thickness over the Baltic Sea -comparison of two methods* Aerosol optical thickness Retrieval methods Baltic atmosphere

open access: yes, 2020
The results of two methods used to estimate the aerosol optical thickness over the Baltic Sea are compared. The standard method is based on measurements of the direct component of the downward irradiance at the sea surface in 8 spectral bands (412, 443 ...

Decoverslipping of Archival Cytology Aspirate Smears for Ancillary Studies: A Review of Methods and Institutional Experience With Freezer‐Based Techniques

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
Freezer‐based decoverslipping of archival cytology aspirate smears achieved only 32.5% slide‐level success (26/80), with mounting medium composition and coverslip material, not freezing temperature or duration, identified as dominant determinants, underscoring the need to align coverslipping practices with anticipated ancillary testing requirements ...

Variability of Aerosol Optical Depth and Altitude for Key Aerosol Types over Southern West Africa via CALIPSO/CALIOP Observations

open access: yesAtmosphere
The atmosphere of southern West Africa (SWA) is one of the world’s most aerosol-laden regions. This study investigated the seasonal variability of aerosol optical thickness using photometric and CALIPSO/CALIOP observations. The mean daily aerosol optical

Development of CCMb: A Low‐Mg Calcite Reference Material for In Situ Measurement of δ18O, δ13C and Selected Trace Elements

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Low‐Mg calcite RM developed for in situ microanalysis applications in palaeoclimatology (δ18O, δ13C; Mg, Sr m/m). New data for calcite CRM IAEA‐603 (δ18O, δ13C by SIMS and GS‐IRMS; Mg m/m). No detectable IMF effect of Mg on SIMS δ18O determinations for mass fractions < 3650 μg g‐1.

Ocular Manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus Infection in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Eyes are essential sensory organs needed by teleost Atlantic salmon for high visual acuity and survival in both the wild and in aquaculture settings. In this work, we assessed the ocular manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus (ISAV) infection in Atlantic salmon by a cohabitation‐mediated infection assay and histological and ...

Distinct Foliar Uptake Pathways for Phosphorus and Nano‐Hydroxyapatite in Potato Revealed By Synchrotron μCT and ³³P Imaging

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) has a high phosphorus (P) requirement, yet its shallow root system and the strong P‐fixing capacity of many soils limit the effectiveness of soil fertilisation. Foliar application of nano‐hydroxyapatite particles (nHAPs) has emerged as a promising alternative P fertilisation practice.

Aerosol size distribution retrieved from optical depth measurements in Tamanrasset and Blida

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables, 2012
Since we are often faced with limited, insufficient or contaminated observations in remote sensing. We will employ a theoretical technique for the retrieval of the particle size distribution.
