An Observational Diagnostic for Distinguishing Between Clouds and Haze in Hot Exoplanet Atmospheres
The nature of aerosols in hot exoplanet atmospheres is one of the primary vexing questions facing the exoplanet field. The complex chemistry, multiple formation pathways, and lack of easily identifiable spectral features associated with aerosols make it ...

A laminar flow model of aerosol survival of epidemic and non-epidemic strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from people with cystic fibrosis [PDF]
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited multi-system disorder characterised by chronic airway infection with pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Acquisition of P. aeruginosa by patients with CF is usually from the environment, but recent studies have

Electroless Plating of Copper on Laser‐Induced Graphene for Flexible Hybrid Electronic Applications
Copper‐plated Laser‐Induced Graphene (Cu‐LIG) provides a facile and economical approach to patterning FHEs. This patterning process is enabled by incorporating catalytically active palladium nanoparticles into the LIG structure, which serve as surface reaction sites for reducing copper ions in solution plating.

Diffuse fraction as a tool for exploring the sensitivity of parametric clear-sky models to changing aerosol conditions [PDF]
Aerosols' impact on the performance of a clear-sky solar irradiance model is often evaluated from the perspective of the overall accuracy of estimates. This study assesses the aerosol role in clear-sky solar irradiance modelling from a totally different perspective, namely the ability of a model to accurately separate global solar irradiance into its ...

Constraining the Atmospheric Composition of the Day-Night Terminators of HD 189733b : Atmospheric Retrieval with Aerosols [PDF]
A number of observations have shown that Rayleigh scattering by aerosols dominates the transmission spectrum of HD 189733b at wavelengths shortward of 1 $\mu$m. In this study, we retrieve a range of aerosol distributions consistent with transmission spectroscopy between 0.3-24 $\mu$m that were recently re-analyzed by Pont et al. (2013).

The Global Warming Potential of Geoengineering via Radiative Cooling
The cooling power of engineered radiative cooling materials is determined and compared to conventional construction and roofing materials and Earth's natural surfaces. Results show if 1% of Earth's surface are to be covered with state‐of‐the‐art radiative cooling materials the terrestrial radiative forcing would decrease by 1.61 W·m−2 (from 0.6 to −1 ...

The Diverse Modes of Oxygen Reactivity in Life & Chemistry
Breath of life: Oxygen is the quintessential molecule of life on our planet. Three molecular oxygen species dominate natural and artificial oxygenation reactions: the singlet and triplet spin states of dioxygen and ozone. This Review summarizes key applications of these molecular oxygen species in biology, medicine, technologies, and laboratories ...
