Targeting Supramolecular Active Complexes of Nav1.7/Nav1.8 to Relieve Chronic Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In mice and patients with severe chronic neuropathic pain (NP), Nav1.7, Nav1.8, TrkB, and five cytoskeletal proteins form supramolecular active complexes (SMACs) with polygonal lattice structures as noxious signal amplifiers in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons.

Hot Speech and Exploding Bombs: Autonomic Arousal During Emotion Classification of Prosodic Utterances and Affective Sounds

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2018
Emotional expressions provide strong signals in social interactions and can function as emotion inducers in a perceiver. Although speech provides one of the most important channels for human communication, its physiological correlates, such as ...

Multi‐Omics Insights Into the Mechanisms of Early Muscle Fiber Difference and Transformation Between Lean‐Type and Chinese Indigenous Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics analyses uncover breed‐specific cis‐regulatory landscapes and higher‐order chromatin architectural differences that underlie early postnatal muscle fiber divergence in pigs. A super‐enhancer upstream of PPP3CB recruits MEF2C to activate PPP3CB transcription, while the PPP3CB–MEF2C positive feedback loop promotes oxidative muscle fiber ...

Affective synthesis and animation of arm gestures from speech prosody

open access: yesSpeech Communication, 2020
Abstract In human-to-human communication, speech signals carry rich emotional cues that are further emphasized by affect-expressive gestures. In this regard, automatic synthesis and animation of gestures accompanying affective verbal communication can help to create more naturalistic virtual agents in human-computer interaction systems. Speech-driven

Schooling Trajectories and the Development of Brain Dynamics: A Comparative Study of Montessori and Traditional Education

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate whether Montessori and traditional schooling systems shape the developmental trajectory of large‐scale brain dynamics in different ways. We quantify the arrow of time (“non‐reversibility”) in neural activity during resting state and movie‐watching, revealing distinct maturational patterns.

High‐Throughput Data Generation and Transfer Learning Enabled Microstructure‐Property Integrated Design of Nickel‐Based Powder Metallurgy Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated transfer learning framework integrates CALPHAD simulations, diffusion‐multiple experiments, and literature data to predict long‐term microstructural stability and short‐term mechanical properties of Ni‐based powder metallurgy superalloys. Based on these model predictions, a high‐performance, low‐density alloy, USTB‐PM750, is designed from

Social Cognition in a Case of Amnesia with Neurodevelopmental Mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
Episodic-autobiographical memory (EAM) is considered to emerge gradually in concert with the development of other cognitive abilities. Developmental studies have emphasized socio-cultural-linguistic mechanisms that may be unique to the development of EAM.

What you say versus how you say it: Comparing sentence comprehension and emotional prosody processing using fMRI

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2020
While language processing is often described as lateralized to the left hemisphere (LH), the processing of emotion carried by vocal intonation is typically attributed to the right hemisphere (RH) and more specifically, to areas mirroring the LH language ...

Zero Thermal Expansion and Local Structure in KxMnxFe2‐xMo3O12‐Based Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Local structure engineering via ion insertion drives local structural transformation from low‐symmetry P21/a to high‐symmetry R‐3c, enhancing structural flexibility and realizing a transition from positive thermal expansion to wide‐temperature‐range zero thermal expansion in KxMnxFe2‐xMo3O12‐based materials.

Temperature‐Driven Emission Redistribution of Yb2+ in SrB4O7 Enables Highly Sensitive Optical Thermometry Supported by Multiple Linear Regression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel optical thermometer exploits the rare UV emission of Yb2+ ions in a SrB4O7 host, enabling highly sensitive, non‐contact temperature measurements from 80 to 420 K. The applied multiple linear regression (MLR) analysis results in a multiple increase in the resulting temperature sensitivity.
