An outbreak of aflatoxin poisoning in dogs associated with aflatoxin B1–contaminated maize products
Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, 2013An aflatoxicosis outbreak affected 65 dogs from 9 different farms after they were fed diets with cooked corn meal as a common ingredient. Of the dogs, 60 died. Numerous dogs died on additional farms, but those dogs were not included in the study.

Lancet, The, 1982Abstract Between March and early June, 1981, 20 patients with hepatitis, 12 of whom died, were admitted to three hospitals in the Machakos district of Kenya. Two families, from which 8 of 12 sick members, died were eating maize which contained as much as 12 000 parts per billion (p.p.b.) of aflatoxin B 1 . Liver tissue at necropsy contained up to 89 p.

Hence we compared the essential aspects of the mycotoxins related to human pathology and we tried to estimate the protective role of a medicine usually administered as an antidote, namely vitamin A.
