OUTBREAK OF ACUTE HEPATITIS CAUSED BY AFLATOXIN POISONING IN KENYA
Lancet, The, 1982Abstract Between March and early June, 1981, 20 patients with hepatitis, 12 of whom died, were admitted to three hospitals in the Machakos district of Kenya. Two families, from which 8 of 12 sick members, died were eating maize which contained as much as 12 000 parts per billion (p.p.b.) of aflatoxin B 1 . Liver tissue at necropsy contained up to 89 p.

Carcinogenesis, 1991
Acid hydrolysed, purified DNA, extracted from formalin fixed human tissues from persons acutely exposed to aflatoxins during a poisoning incident, was found to inhibit antibody binding in a competitive aflatoxin inhibition ELISA both before and after immunoaffinity column purification.

Testing the Antidotal Efficiency in the Treatment of Aflatoxin Poisoning
1999The effects of the intoxication with aflatoxins were experimentally determined, by oral administration to mice. Hence we compared the essential aspects of the mycotoxins related to human pathology and we tried to estimate the protective role of a medicine usually administered as an antidote, namely vitamin A.
