The predictive role of estrogen, FSH, and LH in combination with biomarkers for early ovarian cancer detection

open access: yesMìžnarodnij Endokrinologìčnij Žurnal
Background. The early detection of ovarian cancer is not easy, and the predictive value of hormonal (estrogen, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH)) and molecular biomarkers can be used to facilitate the diagnosis and patient ...

Biochemical markers for prediction of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2019
Background: Gestational hypertension (GH) and preeclampsia (PE) are the most common gestational complications. Several placental biochemical markers are used to predict GH/PE, but with conflicting results.

miR-371a-3p, miR-373-3p and miR-367-3p as Serum Biomarkers in Metastatic Testicular Germ Cell Cancers Before, During and After Chemotherapy

open access: yesCells, 2019
Background: LDH (lactate dehydrogenase), AFP (alpha-fetoprotein) and β-HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) are used in diagnosis and follow-up of testicular germ cell cancer (TGCC) patients.

Preoperative FIB‐4 Index as a Potential Factor Associated With Severe Postoperative Complications and Endogenous Organ Failure After Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that a preoperative FIB‐4 index ≥ 5.0 independently predicts severe complications and endogenous organ failure (EOF) following hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma. By capturing structural liver fragility and systemic vulnerability, the FIB‐4 index enhances surgical risk stratification beyond traditional functional markers ...

Establishing Sensory Neurons as Therapeutic Targets in Peripheral Neuropathy Driven by Polyglutamine Expanded Murine ATXN3

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Repeat expansion disorders frequently involve peripheral neuropathy, yet mechanisms remain unclear. Using a spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) Knock‐In Atxn3Q300/Q6, we identify progressive sensorimotor deficits, peripheral nerve pathology, and dorsal root ganglia RNA splicing dysregulation.

Framing National Education in Hong Kong: A frame analysis of power dynamics in stakeholders' competing narratives

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines how national education in Hong Kong functions as a contested arena in which state and non‐state actors struggle over the meaning of citizenship, identity and schooling. Using inductive frame analysis of 319 news articles (2020–2025) from five Chinese‐ and English‐language outlets, it identifies diagnostic, prognostic and ...

Hemopexin Purification From Human Cohn Fraction IV Paste and Its Biophysical Characterization and Functional Evaluation in Sickle Cell Disease Mice

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hemopexin (Hpx) is an acute phase plasma protein that is responsible for sequestration and removal of cell‐free heme with very high affinity (Kd < 1 pM). Hpx expression in liver cells is induced following an inflammatory event such as severe hemolysis. Therefore, plasma Hpx has potential clinical relevance due to its' ability to bind free heme,

MicroRNAs as Appropriate Discriminators in Non-Specific Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) Elevation in Testicular Germ Cell Tumor Patients

open access: yesNon-Coding RNA, 2020
Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) are the most commonly diagnosed malignancies in younger men. The monitoring of disease course and recurrence is supported by traditional tumor markers, including α-fetoprotein (AFP).

Metal nanostructure‐coupled label‐free localized surface plasmon resonance biosensors for rapid and sensitive disease diagnosis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
LSPR biosensing enables rapid, sensitive, and low‐sample‐volume detection of biomarkers, with broad applications in diagnosing cancer, infectious, and chronic diseases. Advances in nanostructure design, micro/nanofabrication, and microfluidic integration have expanded the potential of LSPR sensors in biomedical diagnostics.

Dual Regulatory Functions of Classical Zinc Finger Clusters from Myeloid Zinc Finger‐1

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The classical zinc finger (ZF) protein MZF1 uses two ZF clusters to achieve metal‐dependent and gene‐specific promoter recognition. The differential redox stability and modular utilization of the two ZF clusters enable MZF1 to regulate cerebrovascular, neuronal, and cancer‐related transcriptional programs.
