A Detonation Afterburner

For the first time, a detonation afterburner (DA) for continuous detonation combustion of TS-1 aviation kerosene was developed, manufactured, and tested. Test fires of the DA in combination with a TJ100S-125 small-sized single-circuit turbojet engine were carried out on a ground test bench.

In-Browser Interactive SQL Analytics with Afterburner

This demonstration explores the novel and unconventional idea of implementing an analytical RDBMS in pure JavaScript so that it runs completely inside a browser with no external dependencies. Our prototype, called Afterburner, generates compiled query plans that exploit two JavaScript features: typed arrays and asm.js.

Many current implementations of protocols such as the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are inefficient because data are often accessed more frequently than necessary. Three techniques that reduce the need for memory bandwidth are proposed. The techniques are copy-on-write, page remapping, and single-copy.
