Afterburner: The Case for In-Browser Analytics

open access: yesCoRR, 2016
This paper explores the novel and unconventional idea of implementing an analytical RDBMS in pure JavaScript so that it runs completely inside a browser with no external dependencies. Our prototype, called Afterburner, generates compiled query plans that exploit typed arrays and asm.js, two relatively recent advances in JavaScript.

Numerical and Experimental Study on Jet Trajectory and Fuel Concentration Distribution Characteristics of Kerosene Jet in Air Crossflow

open access: yesAerospace, 2022
The fuel concentration distribution in an afterburner is a critical factor that affects its ignition, flameout, stability, and combustion efficiency. Additionally, the trajectory of the fuel jet directly affects the distribution of the downstream fuel ...

Hydrogen‐Based Reduction of Hematitic Iron Ore in a Fluidized Bed Kinetic Reactor at Elevated Pressures

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study investigates the reduction behavior of two international iron ores, including a synthetic hematite produced by oxidation of magnetite, in a novel fluidized‐bed kinetic reactor at elevated pressures. The reduction takes place at various temperatures (650°C, 700°C, and 750°C), and various hydrogen partial pressures (30, 55, and 80 vol% H2 ...

Afterburning of solid rocket exhaust [PDF]

open access: yesActa Astronautica, 1974
AN EQUILIBRIUM CALCULATION of the solid fueled rocket exhaust of the proposed NASA Space Shuttle has been carried out and parameterized in terms of oxidant/fuel ratio. Results comparing the equilibration times with experimentally determined dilution times show that Hz and CO are completely burned to H20 and CO2, whereas HC1, although thermodynamical ly

Sustainability Assessment of Alternative Methods for Destruction of Per‐ and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in Water

open access: yesRemediation Journal, Volume 36, Issue 2, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent environmental contaminants widely recognized for their resistance to degradation and potential adverse health effects. The treatment of PFAS‐contaminated aqueous media (e.g., drinking water, wastewater, and leachate) has been extensively studied in the published literature; however, the

Method of calculating the fuel combustion efficiency in the afterburner combustion chamber of a gas turbine dual fuel engine

open access: yesВестник Самарского университета: Аэрокосмическая техника, технологии и машиностроение
The problem of reducing the emission of unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide that affect the value of fuel combustion efficiency in the afterburner combustion chamber of a gas turbine engine is considered.

Flow‐Field Optimization and Thermal Management of a Plate‐Type Methane Steam Reformer for SOFC Applications

open access: yesFuel Cells, Volume 26, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents a multiphysics numerical investigation of a plate‐type methane steam reformer (MSR) intended for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) applications. The focus is placed on resolving the coupled thermo‐fluidic behavior, species transport, and reaction kinetics associated with MSR and water–gas shift (WGS) reactions within the ...

Thermomechanical Validation of an Additively Manufactured Test Chamber for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Atomization in Jet‐In‐Crossflow Conditions

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, Volume 415, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aims to validate the structural and thermomechanical reliability of an additively manufactured test chamber specifically designed for the experimental investigation of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) atomization under jet‐in‐crossflow (JICF) conditions representative of gas turbine afterburners. The proposed test chamber is designed
