Spent Media Management Pathways for PFAS Treatment Applications

PFAS‐laden spent media requires downstream management, with significant operating costs, regulatory uncertainty, and ongoing technology development. Virgin media production is the largest contributor to life‐cycle costs and energy, so media management pathways including regeneration and reactivation can lower costs, depending on capital equipment needs.

Abstract The European Commission requested EFSA to assess the effect of incineration, co‐incineration and combustion of Category 1 animal by‐products (ABP) on the BSE/TSE hazards in ash resulting from these treatments.
