クロロフォルム可溶性メチル寒天質を2%鹽化水素メタノールにて加水分解してその分解生成物の蒸溜殘渣中にd-Galactose及び3, 6-Anhydro-l-galactoseを成分糖とせる新二重糖のメチル誘導體の存在せるを認め,それを更に沃化メチル及び酸化銀にてメチル化してその中より融點99~100°のPentamethyl-d-galactosido-3, 6-anhydro-methyl-l-galactosideに相當する物質を單離し得たるを以て茲に報告せんとす.
