Body Composition in Healthy Aging
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2000Abstract: Health risks in elderly people cannot be evaluated simply in conventional terms of body fatness or fat distribution. Elderly people have less muscle and bone mass, expanded extracellular fluid volumes, and reduced body cell mass compared to younger adults. These nonfat components of body composition play critical roles, influencing cognitive

Bonding of composite to water aged composite with surface treatments
Dental Materials, 2007The purpose of this study was to determine the shear bond strength of new composite to water aged composite with and without interfacial surface treatment. Two hundred and eighty cylindrical samples were prepared for each of three resin composites (Spectrum, Dentsply; Durafill, Kulzer; Herculite, Kerr).

Morphology and chemical composition of Ag/Sn/Ag interconnections
Journal of Microscopy, 2010SummaryThe main goal of the present contribution was to describe morphology and chemical composition of the intermetallic phases, which were formed during diffusion soldering process of the silver using tin. The Ag3Sn intermetallics is the main constituent of the joint after diffusion soldering at 235°C and 265°C.

Where is the Ag in FePt–Ag composite films?
Applied Physics Letters, 2011The miscibility of Ag with FePt composited films was investigated with anomalous x-ray scattering (AXS) and extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) at Ag K edge. In the AXS spectra for FePt Bragg peaks, the cusp near Ag K edge was observed, indicating alloying between Ag and FePt in the FePt–Ag thin films.

Morphology and Chemical Composition of Ag/In/Ag Interconnections
Solid State Phenomena, 2012One of the environment protection’s main aims is working out soldering materials able to replace the Sn-Pb solders commonly used so far. The joint obtained using diffusion soldering fulfills these conditions and takes up 6 times less space than in the case of conventional soldering.

Muscle composition in relation to age and sex
Clinical Science, 19911. A method is described enabling the determination of fat, water, electrolytes, protein, DNA, RNA and total creatine in a single sample of human muscle obtained by the percutaneous needle-biopsy technique. The amino acid content can also be analysed in the same muscle sample. 2.

Exercise and Sport Sciences Reviews, 1995
There is no doubt that body composition changes with aging. Some general trends have been described, including an increase in body weight and fat mass in middle age followed by a decrease in stature, weight, FFM, and body cell mass at older ages. Losses in muscle, protein, and bone mineral contribute to the decline in FFM; however, the onset and rates ...

Synthesis of Ag-liposome nano composites
Journal of Liposome Research, 2010Silver nanoparticles were synthesized and stabilized by a simple, environment-friendly method in a liposomes structure. Liposomes were prepared by facing lecithin to the aqueous-phase solutions while stirring vigorously. The ratio of lecithin concentration to silver nitrate (K(Lec/Ag) = [Lecithin]/[AgNO(3)]) is the influencing factor in the synthesis ...

Body composition in aging: a biological perspective
Current Opinion in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolic Care, 2003Changes in body composition accompany and predict medical and surgical risk; interventions may be considered. Aging affects body composition, particularly in reduction of the body cell mass. The molecular biology of aging has become an active frontier of research in the past 30 years, with acceleration in the past decade.
