Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

OPACA: Toward an Open, Language- and Platform-Independent API for Containerized Agents

open access: yesIEEE Access
While multi-agent frameworks can provide many advanced features, they often suffer from not being able to seamlessly interact with the outside world, e.g., with web-services or other multi-agent frameworks.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Tissue Microenvironment Modulates CXCR4 Expression and Tumor Metastasis in Neuroblastoma

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2007
Neuroblastoma (NB) is derived from intrinsic migratory neural crest cells and has a high potential for distant metastasis. Growing evidence has implicated chemokine receptors, especially CXCR4, which normally control immune and inflammatory cell ...

The agent programming language meta-APL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
. We describe a novel agent programming language, Meta-APL, and give its operational semantics. Meta-APL allows both agent programs and their associated deliberation strategy to be encoded in the same programming language.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Immunoprevention of non-viral cancers: challenges and strategies for early intervention

open access: yesCancer Cell International
While the effects of cancer vaccines have been extensively studied in the therapeutic setting, research has been more limited in the areas of cancer prevention and interception.
