Electroluminescence of polymer/J-aggregate composites
Applied Physics Letters, 1999Efficient electroluminescence was revealed in single-layer light-emitting diodes based on electron-hole conducting polymers containing the nanocrystalline phase of cyanine dyes (J-aggregates). These species exhibit a very narrow emission band with a maximum in the red to infrared spectrum range.

Parallel Evaluation of Composite Aggregate Queries
2008 IEEE 24th International Conference on Data Engineering, 2008Aggregate measures summarizing subsets of data are valuable in exploratory analysis and decision support, especially when dependent aggregations can be easily specified and computed. A novel class of queries, called composite subset measures, was previously introduced to allow correlated aggregate queries to be easily expressed.

QoS Aggregation in Web Service Compositions
2005 IEEE International Conference on e-Technology, e-Commerce and e-Service, 2005For the composition of Web services non-functional characteristics are commonly considered criteria for finding and selecting available services. Our work focuses on a mechanism that determines the overall quality-of-service (QoS) of a composition by aggregating the QoS of the individual services. With aggregated QoS it can be verified whether a set of

Choosing Aggregation Rules for Composite Indicators
Social Indicators Research, 2011From a formal point of view, a composite indicator is an aggregate of all dimensions, objectives, individual indicators and variables used for its construction. This implies that what defines a composite indicator is the set of properties underlying its mathematical aggregation convention.

Aggregation Ordering for Massively Compositional Models
2010 10th International Conference on Application of Concurrency to System Design, 2010Compositional modeling is a powerful way of expressing the behavior of a complex system through the interaction of its components. Analysis of compositional models is difficult because of the state space explosion. One solution is compositional aggregation where composition and aggregation steps are intertwined.

Evolved Diffusion Limited Aggregation Compositions
2008Diffusion limited aggregation (DLA) is a simulation technique for modeling dendritic growth. It has seen limited use for artistic purposes. We consider an evolutionary scheme for evolving DLA compositions with multiple seed particles. As a consequence we are led to consider robustness and stability issues related to the use of evolutionary computation ...

A Composite Good Theorem for Simple Sum Aggregates
Econometrica, 1978IN THE ANALYSIS of economic data the investigator is frequently provided with only the simple sum of some elementary variables. The elementary variables are known to be perfect substitutes (i.e., to have the same effect) in some contexts, but not in all the relevant ones.

An aggregate fuzzy hazardous index for composite wastes
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2006In this paper, a fuzzy waste index for evaluating the hazard posed by composite wastes generated from industrial processes is proposed. Within this methodology, a fuzzy index as a measure of hazardousness of a given composite waste is derived from the crisp inputs of its component's flammability, corrosivity, toxicity and reactivity attributes based on

Structure and Composition of Sodium Taurocholate Micellar Aggregates
Langmuir, 1999The structure and composition of sodium taurocholate (NaTC), a very important and carefully studied trihydroxy bile salt in humans, were studied. X-ray and emf measurements enabled to solve some crystal structures. It was found that the structural units of these salts have an approximate shape of an elliptic cylinder and a roughly elliptic cross ...

A Strength Prediction of Aggregated Composites
Journal of Composite Materials, 1969This paper is concerned with the development of a theory to predict the strength and failure mechanisms of systems consisting of discrete aggregated particles held together in some fashion. From a practical viewpoint, this would include materials such as plain and asphaltic concrete, and soils.
