Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

An energy‐based aggregate stability method is more management‐sensitive than commercial methods in coarse‐textured, subtropical orchard soils

open access: yesAgricultural & Environmental Letters
Aggregate stability impacts important soil functions, including carbon/water storage and soil structure. Macroaggregate stability tests, using rainfall simulation or wet sieving, are commonly used, but microaggregate stability tests may be more ...

Effects of Freeze–Thaw Cycles on Soil Aggregate Stability and Organic Carbon Distribution Under Different Land Uses

open access: yesAgriculture
Soil aggregates are critical determinants of soil erosion resistance and nutrient retention capacity, while freeze–thaw cycles (FTCs) induce the structural reorganization of soil aggregates, thereby altering soil stability and influencing soil organic ...

Stability and bounds in aggregate scheduling networks

open access: yes, 2008
We study networks of FIFO nodes, where flows are constrained by arrival curves. A crucial question with these networks is: Can we derive a bound to the maximum delay that a packet can experience when traversing the network, and to the maximum queue size at each node?

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Response of soil aggregate stability to cementing agents in broadleaf transformation of Pinus massoniana forests

open access: yes中国水土保持科学
ObjectiveSoil structure degradation occurs in coniferous plantations, and broadleaf transformation can facilitate its restoration. However, how broadleaf transformation regulates cementing agents to enhance soil aggregate stability remains unclear ...

Analysis on Soil Aggregate Stability of Preferential Flow and Matrix Flow Domains Under Different Land Use Types in the Lower Reaches of Fen River Watershe

open access: yesShuitu baochi yanjiu, 2022
Preferential flow is a common heterogeneous phenomenon of movement of water and solute in soil. However, the difference of soil aggregate stability between preferential flow domain and matrix flow domain are still unclear.

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.
