A review on energy security indices to compare country performances

, 2020
The use of energy security indices has been increasing recently, as indicator-based approaches are particularly suitable to model multiple dimensions and compare countries. Moreover, indices represent effective communication tools for policymakers.

Aggregation of safety performance indicators to higher-level indicators

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2008
In the hierarchical structure of IAEA safety performance indicators (SPIs) the top level is operational safety performance. Safety performance cannot be measured directly. Aggregation is a process by which the indices of the lower-level indicators are combined to get the numerical index for the next higher-level indicator.

On aggregate composite indicators

Journal of the Operational Research Society, 2017
In this paper it is shown that the unweighted arithmetic average is the theoretically consistent scheme to aggregate composite indicators, derived from the benefit-of-the-doubt model, across decision-making units.

An aggregated energy security performance indicator

Applied Energy, 2013
An “Aggregated Energy Security Performance Indicator (AESPI)” has been developed by considering 25 individual indicators representing social, economy and environmental dimensions. The principle used, data required and the methodology for the development of AESPI have been detailed.

Aggregate Indices and Their Corresponding Elementary Indices

Jahrbücher für Nationalökonomie und Statistik, 2010
Summary “Which index formula at the elementary level, where no expenditure share weights are available, corresponds to a desired aggregate index?” To answer this question, this paper develops a statistical approach. It proposes a theoretical framework which makes it possible to achieve numerical equivalence of an elementary index with ...

General interval-valued overlap functions and interval-valued overlap indices

Information Sciences, 2020
Overlap functions are aggregation functions that express the overlapping degree between two values. They have been used both as a conjunction in several practical problems (e.g., image processing and decision making), and to generate overlap indices ...

Comparing Air Quality Indices Aggregated by Pollutant

2011
In this paper a new aggregate Air Quality Index (AQI) useful for describing the global air pollution situation for a given area is proposed. The index, unlike most of currently used AQIs, takes into account the combined effects of all the considered pollutants to human health.

Time Aggregation in Presence of Multiple Variable Energy Resources

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems
This paper proposes a new time aggregation method that can properly reflect the spatial aspect of the data sources alongside their temporal behaviour when multiple variable energy resources are involved.
