Aggregation pheromones ofDrosophila immigrans, D. phalerata, andD. subobscura
Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1996Aggregation pheromones ofDrosophila immigrans, D. phalerata andD. subobscura were demonstrated by testing attraction of adult flies to hexane extracts of the flies in a windtunnel bioassay. Extracts of adult males of all species attracted conspecific males and females. However,D.

$\Phi$ Clust: Pheromone-Based Aggregation for Robotic Swarms
IEEE/RJS International Conference on Intelligent RObots and Systems, 2018In this paper, we proposed a pheromone-based aggregation method based on the state-of-the-art BEECLUST algorithm. We investigated the impact of pheromone-based communication on the efficiency of robotic swarms to locate and aggregate at areas with a ...

Aggregation pheromone components inDrosophila mulleri
Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1989Existence of an aggregation pheromone was demonstrated inDrosophila mulleri. Mature males produce at least two compounds that are lacking from females and newly emerged males and that attract both males and females in a wind-tunnel bioassay. These compounds are (S)-(+)-2-tridecanol acetate and (Z)-10-heptadecen-2-one.

Males ofCarpophilus antiquus Melsheimer (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) emit an aggregation pheromone that was found to be a novel hydrocarbon, (3E,5E,7E,9E)-6,8-diethyl-4-methyl-3,5,7,9-dodecatetraene. A synthetic scheme and spectra (mass and proton NMR) are given for the compound. Beetles produced the pheromone when feeding on a variety of media, including

Aggregation pheromone metaphor for semi-supervised classification
Pattern Recognition, 2013This article presents a novel 'self-training' based semi-supervised classification algorithm using the property of aggregation pheromone found in real ants. The proposed method has no assumption regarding the data distribution and is free from parameters to be set by the user. It can also capture arbitrary shapes of the classes.

Oviposition aggregation pheromone in the Simulium damnosum complex
Medical and Veterinary Entomology, 1995Abstract. Communal oviposition by the Simulium damnosum complex of Afrotropical blackflies (Diptera: Simuliidae) was investigated under controlled laboratory conditions, using wild‐caught flies in Sierra Leone. Volatile compounds emitted by Simulium

The major component of the male-produced aggregation pheromone ofCarpophilus dimidiatus (F.) is (3E, 5E, 7E, 9E)-6,8-diethyl-4-methyl-3,5,7,9-dodecatetraene. It attracts beetles of both sexes in the field and is synergized by odors from fermenting bread dough; mean trap catches for the tetraene alone, tetraene plus dough, dough alone, and control were ...

cis-Vaccenyl acetate as an aggregation pheromone inDrosophila melanogaster
Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1985Pentane extracts of matureDrosophila melanogaster males substantially increased the attractiveness of food odors to both males and females in a wind-tunnel olfactometer. Extracts of females caused no such increase. An active component of the extract was isolated and identified as (Z)-11-octadecenyl acetate (cis-vaccenyl acetate, cVA), and synthetic cVA

Specificity of population-aggregating pheromones in Dendroctonus
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1969Abstract In Dendroctonus the production of population-aggregating pheromones is not specific to sex or species. Aggregation is largely maintained by the specificity of olfactory receptor systems.
