Special Robotic Stylet for Assisting Endotracheal Intubation Based on Multisegment Continuum Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A robotic stylet is proposed based on a multisegment continuum mechanism for specialized assisting endotracheal intubation. Its geometric parameters are designed based on medical images and kinematic is derived. A prototype is fabricated, and its kinematics and application are experimentally verified. These robotic systems can improve accurate, secure,

How Agile is Agile Enough? Toward a Theory of Agility in Software Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper outlines a theory of software development agility that draws upon a model of IT innovations. We examine how both exploration and exploitation impact software development agility. We propose a sequential model of learning in which agility is driven by exploration versus exploitation needs and development agility is influenced by learning ...

Bioinspired Design, Fabrication, and Wing Morphing of 3D‐Printed Magnetic Butterflies

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Inspired by the remarkable flight of monarch butterflies, lightweight, 3D‐printed magnetic butterflies are fabricated that mimic natural wing morphing without embedded electronics. By varying size, vein patterns, and laser energy in powder bed fusion printing, how these factors enhance deformation efficiency is shown.

Assumptions Underlying Agile Software Development Processes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Database Management, Volume 16, No. 4, pp. 62-87, October-December 2005 Idea Group Inc., 2005, 2014
Agile processes focus on facilitating early and fast production of working code, and are based on software development process models that support iterative, incremental development of software. Although agile methods have existed for a number of years now, answers to questions concerning the suitability of agile processes to particular software ...

A Motion‐Sensing Integrated Soft Robot with Triboelectric Nanogenerator for Pipeline Inspection

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A soft robot integrated with triboelectric nanogenerator‐based tactile sensors is proposed to achieve locomotion within pipelines and exteroception of different materials and structures of pipeline inner surfaces. By introducing a 1D‐convolutional neural network algorithm, the soft robot's accuracy in recognizing eight different pipe inner surface ...

Single‐Pump‐Actuated Transformable Dual‐Mode Gripper Based on Bistable and Origami Structures for Cross‐Scale Object Grasping

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Single‐pump‐actuated transformable dual‐mode gripper (SATDG) that combines vacuum suction and granular jamming to effectively grasp objects ranging from 10 to 300 mm in size, spanning a vast 30‐fold range, with forces from 0.5 to 21 N, is studied. Using a bistable mechanism and origami structure, the SATDG can transform between two modes and activate ...

Agile Culture Clash: Unveiling Challenges in Cultivating an Agile Mindset in Organizations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Context: In agile transformations, there are many challenges such as alignment between agile practices and the organizational goals and strategies or issues with shifts in how work is organized and executed. One very important challenge but less considered and treated in research are cultural challenges associated with an agile mindset.

Phenobot: An Autodigital Modeling System for in situ Phenotyping in Horticulture

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a robotic phenotyping system for precision agriculture, integrating environmental understanding, motion planning, and in situ plant phenotyping. The system autonomously navigates through real‐world agricultural environments, collects high‐quality plant data, and reconstructs accurate 3D plant models. Results demonstrate the system'
