Urban Bats: City Lovers or Refugees?

open access: yesEthology, EarlyView.
Hypothetical relationship between urbanisation intensity and bat species population persistence framed through a species refuge concept. Moderately urbanised landscapes may function as temporal refuge zones where habitat heterogeneity and establishment suitability allow some bat species to colonise and persist.

Distribution models of polysphinctine parasitoid wasps (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) reveal sampling bias and flag potentially overlooked host interactions

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
We quantified the geographical overlap between parasitoid wasps and their known host spiders. We could assess which parasitoid species have more limited information about their interactions and are subject to geographical survey bias. We generated sampling bias maps to assist other researchers in identifying where the main sampling gaps are.

Sheep and cattle grazing regimes differentially affect ground beetle and ant communities in Mediterranean cork oak woodlands

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Sheep and cattle grazing significantly shape ant and ground beetle species composition in Mediterranean cork oak woodlands, promoting higher diversity by increasing habitat heterogeneity. Ground beetles and ants reflect changes in grazing regimes, with sheep‐grazed areas showing the highest diversity, highlighting their utility in ecosystem monitoring.
