Choosing the Number of Categories in Agree–Disagree Scales [PDF]

open access: yesSociological Methods & Research, 2013
Although agree–disagree (AD) rating scales suffer from acquiescence response bias, entail enhanced cognitive burden, and yield data of lower quality, these scales remain popular with researchers due to practical considerations (e.g., ease of item preparation, speed of administration, and reduced administration costs).

Distribution of Eigenvalues for the Modular Group [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The two-point correlation function of energy levels for free motion on the modular domain, both with periodic and Dirichlet boundary conditions, are explicitly computed using a generalization of the Hardy-Littlewood method. It is shown that ion the limit

Rapid, Highly-Sensitive and Ecologically Greener Reversed-Phase/Normal-Phase HPTLC Technique with Univariate Calibration for the Determination of Trans-Resveratrol

open access: yesSeparations, 2021
The rapid, highly-sensitive and ecologically greener reversed-phase (RP)/normal-phase (NP) high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) densitometric technique has been developed and validated for the determination of trans-resveratrol (TRV).

A harmonious note on pitch: Scales of pitch derived from subtractive model of comparison agree with the musical scale [PDF]

open access: yesPerception & Psychophysics, 1984
Subjects judged “ratios” and “differences” in pitch between pairs of tones that varied in frequency. Half of the subjects listened to stimuli that ranged from 191 to 844 Hz; the other half received a range that varied from 191 to 3740 Hz. For both ranges, the rank orders of judgments in the two tasks were essentially the same.

First principles studies of band offsets at heterojunctions and of surface reconstruction using Gaussian dual-space density functional theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The use of localized Gaussian basis functions for large scale first principles density functional calculations with periodic boundary conditions (PBC) in 2 dimensions and 3 dimensions has been made possible by using a dual space approach. This new method
