Hydrogel‐Based Capacitive Sensor Model for Ammonium Monitoring in Aquaculture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Traditional techniques for monitoring aquaculture water quality, particularly ammonium levels, harm fish. This work presents a novel capacitive sensor with an ionic hydrogel transducer to monitor ammonium concentration in real time based on the ammonium‐induced hydrogel dissociation and osmotic pressure. Monitoring aquaculture water quality, especially

Nonlinearity and Domain Switching in a 3D‐Printed Architected Ferroelectric

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
By combining functional properties measurement with in situ 2D X‐ray microdiffraction experiments, it is shown that nonlinear polarization and strain responses of a 3D‐printed architected ferroelectric are driven by localized progression of domain switching, which depends on nonuniform electric‐field distribution as well as evolving stress fields.

Gene engineering in swine for agriculture

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2017
Domestic pigs are the second most important source of meat world-wide, and the genetic improvement of economic traits, such as meat production, growth, and disease resistance, is a critical point for efficient production in pigs. Through conventional breeding and selection programs in pigs, which are painstakingly slow processes, some economic traits ...
