NIBV Induces Incomplete Autophagy via AMPK‐TFEB, Causing Kidney Injury in Chicks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that NIBV can inhibit the nuclear translocation of TFEB by suppressing the expression of AMPK, leading to the blockade of autophagolysosomal functions, in turn increasing NIBV replication and triggering severe kidney injury in chicks.

Agricultural Employment Patterns of Immigrant Workers in the United States [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite of the important role international migration fills in the United States’ labor-intensive agricultural sector, few studies have addressed the individual characteristics and circumstances surrounding entry and exit by farm laborers.

A Testis‐Specific Aralkylamine N‐Acetyltransferase Regulates Dimorphic Sperm Function and Male Fertility in Moths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.

How pro-poor is the selection of seasonal migrant workers from Tonga under New Zealand's recognized seasonal employer program ? [PDF]

open access: yes
Temporary migration programs for unskilled workers are increasingly being proposed as a way to both relieve labor shortages in developed countries and aid development in sending countries without entailing many of the costs associated with permanent ...

BLADE‐ON‐PETIOLE Genes Enable Genetic Bottleneck Mitigation Through Cross‐Species Repurposing of Floral Persistence Traits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that BLADE‐ON‐PETIOLE (BOP) proteins regulate floral abscission and senescence in tomato by interacting with TFAM1 to form transcriptional condensates controlling the ARABIDOPSIS THALIANA HOMEOBOX GENE 1 (ATH1)‐mediated abscission pathway.

Diversity Patterns of Domestic Herbivore Viruses in China Reveal Transmission Dynamics with Disease Management Implications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study performs pan‐viromic profiling of 14,529 samples from 5,710 domestic herbivores across five Chinese provinces, establishing the DhCN‐Virome (1,085,360 viral metagenomes). It reveals species/sample‐specific viromic signatures and cross‐species transmission dynamics, aiding unified disease control.

A Functionally Conserved Enhancer is Critical for PGC1A Expression and Thermogenesis in Brown Fat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An evolutionarily conserved enhancer controls PGC1A expression and thermogenic activation in brown adipose tissue. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify two BAT‐specific enhancers, with PGC1A‐En1 functioning as the dominant regulatory element that maintains thermogenic capacity across species.
