Septicemia caused by Agrobacterium sp [PDF]
Agrobacterium radiobacter biovar 2 was repeatedly grown from the blood of an elderly patient receiving artificial ventilation and broad-spectrum antibiotics. No source of the organism was found, but the septicemia ceased when cefotaxime was given. Sera from the patient showed a fourfold rise in antibody against the organism and higher titers than sera ...

Co‐Selection of Low Cadmium Accumulation and High Yield During Tomato Improvement
This study finds that large‐fruited tomatoes accumulate less cadmium (Cd) compared to wild tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. This is because, during the improvement process of tomato, the low‐Cd allele LCT1A and the large fruit allele fw3.2T are closely linked, leading to a co‐selection event.

GmSop20 Functions as a Key Coordinator of the Oil‐To‐Protein Ratio in Soybean Seeds
This study investigates the seed oil‐to‐protein ratio as a comprehensive quality metric and identifies GmSop20 as a crucial regulatory gene through forward genetics methodologies. By integrating GmSop20 with superior haplotypes and using gene editing/overexpression, new strategies are provided for precisely tuning the seed oil‐to‐protein ratio, thereby

Base editing enables precise nucleotide substitutions but limited by bystander editing. This study engineers plant base editors by fusing optimized TadA variants with PAM‐flexible SpRY nickase, enabling A‐to‐G, C‐to‐T, and dual‐base conversions in a highly condensed window (≤3 nucleotides). Additionally, TadDBE (TadA Dual‐Base Editor)‐mediated directed

Agrobacterium in the Genomics Age [PDF]
Members of the genus Agrobacterium cause the neoplastic diseases crown gall, hairy root, and cane gall on numerous plant species. Extensive genetic analyses conducted in the 1980s identified key bacterial genes involved in virulence.

Florigen and Florigen‐Like Genes Regulate Temperature‐Responsive Flowering in Tomato
This study uncovers that FLOWERING LOCUS T‐Like 2 (FTL2) and SINGLE‐FLOWER TRUSS (SFT) antagonistically regulate temperature‐responsive flowering in the tomato shoot apical meristem. High temperature induces floral repressor FTL2, which directly inhibits SFT to delay short‐day floral transition, while SFT reciprocally inhibits FTL2 to promote flowering.

Differentiation of Phytopathogenic agrobacterium spp.
Due to the difficulties in differentiation of phytopathogenic Agrobacterium spp. and lack of a standardized protocol, we carried out selection and evaluation of suitable methods based on the bacterial physiological, genetic and pathogenic properties. Strains of Agrobacterium tumefaciens, A. rhizogenes and A.
