Rewriting Alkene Frameworks: A Practical Strategy for Nitrogen Incorporation
Morandi and team developed a metal‐free method to insert nitrogen into unactivated alkenes, forming amidines and nitriles via a transient aza‐allenium intermediate. Using mild, open‐flask conditions, the process delivers high yields and broad functional group tolerance.

This report describes a C(sp3)−H aminofunctionalization via the photoexcitation of (diarylmethylene)amino benziodoxolones. These iodine reagents act as both single‐electron oxidants and nitrogen‐based SOMOphiles, serving as iminyl radicals, enabling the site‐selective C(sp3)−H amination and aminoalkylation of α‐aminoxy acid derivatives.

Copper‐mediated transient C─H sulfanylation of benzylamines with sulfenamides enables rapid access to thioethers, cyclic sulfilimines, and sulfoximines. Mechanistic investigations using 1H NMR and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy reveal an unprecedented thermally induced homolytic cleavage of the sulfenamide N─S bond, slowly releasing the ...
