An integrated study of the development of organic rice cultivation in the Camargue (France)- [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In the Camargue, rice and durum wheat are associated in rotations that have an ambivalent ecological impact: on the one hand, these two crops contribute to the preservation of the surrounding ecosystem, while on the other hand, when cropped intensively ...

Cultivar diversity as a means of ecologically intensifying dry matter production in a perennial forage stand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The relationship between genotypic diversity and productivity has not been adequately explored in perennial forage production systems despite strong theoretical and empirical evidence supporting diversity\u27s role in ecosystem functioning in other ...

From Natural Discovery to AI‐Guided Design: A Curated Collection of Compact Enhancers for Crop Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Precise transgene‐free gene upregulation remains a challenge in crop biotechnology, as conventional enhancers often exceed CRISPR‐mediated knock‐in size constraints and face regulatory hurdles. Here we establish a foundational cross‐species resource of compact transcriptional enhancers developed via STEM‐seq, a high‐throughput screening ...

Response of Thirteen Tannia Accessions to Variations in Planting Date in the Humid Tropics

open access: yesOpen Agriculture, 2019
The objectives of the study were to assess the inter-relationship between growth, yield, nutritional and anti-nutritional responses of thirteen tannia (Xanthosoma sagittifolium L.) accessions to planting date (May, June and July) in the humid tropics ...

Impacts of climate change on rice production in Africa and causes of simulated yield changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This study is the first of its kind to quantify possible effects of climate change on rice production in Africa. We simulated impacts on rice in irrigated systems (dry season and wet season) and rainfed systems (upland and lowland).

Multifunctional Tailoring of Fertilizer Composites Directly Derived From Phosphate Rock

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel phosphorus‑sulfur mixed acid with urea (PSU) activation system converts low‑grade phosphate rock (LPR) into multifunctional fertilizer composites (MFCs). MFCs feature porous structures, high nutrient‑activation efficiency, superior slow‑release, and enhanced crop growth, offering a sustainable solution for integrated nutrient management and ...

Genome‐Wide Association Analyses Reveal the Genetic Basis of EMS Mutagenesis Efficiency in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on large‐scale screening of 420 rice accessions, GWAS identified the Rc locus as a key regulator of EMS mutagenesis efficiency. Functional Rc alleles enhance both seed survival and genome‐wide mutation frequency by boosting antioxidant enzyme activities (CAT, SOD, POD) and reducing oxidative damage.

Evaluation of Late-Season Short- and Long-Duration Rice Cultivars for Potential Yield under Mechanical Transplanting Conditions

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
The development of large-scale farming has encouraged the adoption of mechanical transplanting techniques for rice production. However, the increased farming operation times that often occur under large-scale farming conditions necessitate shortening the
