Abstract Oceans are an abundant source of water; their economic potential has not yet been fully exploited. In this context, the current study aims to apply seawater in the dyeing of cotton fabrics, evaluating the influence that total hardness has on the process results.

Cada vez es mayor el tráfico marítimo anual debido a que la mayor parte del transporte internacional se realiza a través de buques. El vertido de aguas de lastre se ha convertido en uno de los principales problemas ambientales, causado por intercambio de especies contenidas en el agua de lastre que pueden convertirse en especies invasoras.
