Environ MicrobiolIn this cultivation‐based study, two novel moderately thermophilic Nitrospira enrichments were obtained from the geothermal field Las Máquinas in the Neuquén Province, Argentina. Both nitrite oxidizers, belonging to lineage V or the novel taxonomic lineage VIII, contain quorum‐sensing genes and a high genome GC content of 60.6% and 69.4%.
