Is Asthma Remission a New Achievable Goal? A Review of the Current Drug‐Related Evidence and Predictors

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advances in asthma therapies have shown that clinical remission may be an achievable therapeutic goal for patients with asthma. This review discusses the current definitions of remission in asthma, the predictors of remission, airway inflammation/epithelial damage in asthma remission, airway remodeling, paradigms in defining remission and ...

Diet–Microbiome–Immune Interactions at the Gut Mucosa in Food Allergy: Mechanisms, Gaps, and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mucosal surfaces are sites of highly dynamic interactions among epithelial and immune cells, environmental exposures, particularly dietary inputs, and the diverse microbial communities and their metabolites. These elements continually influence each other to maintain homeostasis and ensure appropriate immune discrimination between pathogens ...

Deficiency of Mitochondrial Fatty Acid Enzyme, CPT1A, Underlies Airway Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction in Severe Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial fatty acid enzyme, CPT1A, is deficient in the airway epithelium of severe asthma patients. Restoration of CPT1A expression improved epithelial barrier integrity via increasing mitochondrial respiration and ATP production in airway epithelial cells. Restoration of deficient epithelial CPT1A may represent a new treatment approach for severe

T Cell Microenvironmental Impacts and Therapeutic Opportunities: Application to Human Testicular Germ Cell Tumors

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) are the leading malignancy in adolescent and young adult males, yet the immunological and cellular mechanisms governing their tumor microenvironment (TME) remain poorly understood. Here, we present a comprehensive review of TGCT pathobiology with a focus on the immune landscape, particularly the role of tumor‐

Human papillomavirus persistence and clearance in women living with HIV: A five‐year retrospective analysis from an Italian university center

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
In women living with HIV, HPV clearance occurred after a mean of approximately 2 years under antiretroviral therapy. Baseline positivity for the high‐risk HPV pool was associated with delayed clearance, suggesting that HPV genotype may influence viral persistence more than immunovirological status in clinically stable patients.
