Investigation of the Flame Stabilization Mechanism in Phase-Inhomogeneous Air—Fuel Mixtures
Russian Aeronautics, 2020The mechanism of flame stabilization in phase-inhomogeneous air—fuel mixtures is considered. A method is proposed for refining the thermal theory of flame stabilization by taking into account the heat consumed for heating and evaporation liquid fuel in the ignition zone.

A Study of Air-Fuel Mixture Formation in Direct-Injection SI Engines
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2004<div class="htmlview paragraph">An investigation was made into two approaches to air-fuel mixture formation in direct injection SI engines in which charge stratification is controlled by swirl or tumble gas motions, respectively. Particle image velocimetry (PIV), laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and air-fuel ratio measurement by infrared ...

Effects of Opening and Closing Fuel-Injector Valve on Air/Fuel Mixture
Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, 2016Lower engine emissions like CO2, particulate matter (PM), and NOx have recently become more necessary in automobile engines to protect the earth's environment. Keeping uniformity of air/fuel mixture and decreasing fuel adhesion on walls of cylinder and piston are effective in order to reduce the engine emissions.

Flame propagation through an air-fuel spray mixture with transient droplet vaporization
Combustion and Flame, 1980Flame initiation and propagation through an air/fuel vapor/fuel drop system is numerically modeled in a cylindrical one-dimensional closed combustor. An unsteady formulation of the flow problem eliminates the cold-boundary difficulty and gas-phase ignition problem.

Seismic Effect Produced by Detonation of Air-Fuel Mixture in a Borehole
Journal of Mining Science, 2003Using laboratory, field, and numerical experiments, it is shown that detonation of air-fuel mixture in borehole located in dense rocks is an effective method for generating the transverse seismic wave. Different operation regimes are investigated, and the seismic efficiency is determined for the method in question.

Operation of anode-supported solid oxide fuel cells on propane–air fuel mixtures
Applied Catalysis A: General, 2004Abstract Operation of anode-supported solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) on propane–air fuel mixtures was studied. A thermodynamic calculation was used to show that propane is partially oxidized without coking for oxygen-to-propane ratios >1.75 and T>733 °C.

Measurement of Air-Fuel Mixture Distribution in a Gasoline Engine Using LIEF Technique
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1992<div class="htmlview paragraph">The laser-induced exciplex fluorescence (LIEF) technique, currently used to observe mixture formation in a diesel engine, has been applied to a spark ignition (SI) engine and a new equivalence ratio calibration technique has been developed in order that two-dimensional measurements of the equivalence ratio may be ...

Computational Study of the Air/Fuel Mixture in a Small Spark Ignition Engine
Volume 2: 27th Computers and Information in Engineering Conference, Parts A and B, 2007In an effort to understand the fluid dynamics in the droplet formation process, during the fuel delivery portion of operation of a small spark ignition engine, a computational study of the process was undertaken. A combination of high-speed photography and Computational Fluid Dynamics was used to investigate the droplet formation process.
