LDA measurement in air–water downward flow
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2004Abstract Local characteristics of the liquid phase in air–water downward flow were investigated in a 50.8 mm inner-diameter round pipe. A laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) system was used to measure axial liquid velocity and its fluctuations. To reduce the measurement uncertainty, the experiments were performed in flow conditions with low void fraction.

Formation of an air‐water two‐phase flow
AIChE Journal, 1977AbstractThe geometrical parameters of injection devices are shown to have almost no effect on the resulting two‐phase flow, while they influence the pressure drop owing to its formation. The predominant hydrodynamic parameter is the ratio of the mean superficial velocities. A simplified analysis leads to good agreement with experimental results.

1998In storm waterways, at reservoir outlets and in water treatment plants, it is common to design drops, stepped waterways and cascades because of their energy dissipation and flow aeration characteristics. At an abrupt drop, the supercritical flow is characterised by a free-falling nappe impacting on the downstream invert (fig. 1).
