Estimating the General Equilibrium Benefits of Large Policy Changes: The Clean Air Act Revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This paper reports the first comprehensive approach for measuring the general equilibrium willingness to pay for large changes in air quality. It is based on a well defined locational equilibrium model. The approach allows estimation of households' indirect utility function and the underlying distribution of household types.

Indoor Air Quality Assessment Based on Human Physiology - Part 3. Applications

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2003
The proposed evaluation system allows something quite new: a) the assessment of the effect of each environmental component (constituent) on the total environment level, b) accurate estimation of air volume for various locations, human occupations and ...

Robust marine target state estimation via cooperative observation with air-mobile platforms: A new algorithmic approach

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
Existing algorithms for systematic error reduction often assume constant or slowly varying errors and rely on fixed, homogeneous platforms, limiting their ability to handle sudden changes in systematic and attitude errors in motorized platforms.

Battery Lifetime Prediction via Neural Networks with Discharge Capacity and State of Health

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The market share of electric vehicles (EVs) has grown exponentially in recent years to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The principal part of an EV is the energy storage system, which is usually the batteries.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Global estimations of wind energy potential considering seasonal air density changes

open access: yesEnergy, 2019
The literature typically considers constant annual average air density when computing the wind energy potential of a given location. In this work, the recent reanalysis ERA5 is used to obtain global seasonal estimates of wind energy production that include seasonally varying air density.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Estimation of Air Temperature Changes due to Future Urban Growth in the Seoul Metropolitan Area [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Environmental Sciences, 2010
The relationship between air temperatures and the fraction of urban areas (FUA) and their linear regression equation were estimated using land-use data provided by the water management information system (WAMIS) and air temperatures by the Korea Meteorology Administration (KMA) in the Seoul metropolitan area (SMA) during 1975 through 2000.

Suitability of the boreal ecosystem simulator (BEPS) model for estimating gross primary productivity in hemi-boreal upland pine forest

open access: yesMetsanduslikud Uurimused, 2022
Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) is the core component of the terrestrial and global carbon cycle and Earth’s climate research. In this study, GPP estimation was performed with the Boreal Ecosystem Productivity Simulator (BEPS) model to check its ...
