Global spatiotemporal variability of chlorophyll a and environmental drivers revealed by empirical orthogonal function analysis

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Chlorophyll a (Chl a) is a key indicator of phytoplankton biomass and marine primary productivity, linking ocean ecosystem change to biogeochemical cycling and climate. Understanding the environmental controls on long‐term Chl a variability is therefore essential.

Optimization of Venting Units to Minimize the Dimensions of Explosive Zones

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This contribution investigates how changes of standardized venting geometries affect the EX zone extension. CFD simulations are used to explore different venting unit geometries in order to reduce the experimental effort. The optimization of the venting unit geometries is analyzed separately from the dispersion of the hydrogen–air mixture into

Droplet size spectrum, velocity, angle and flow rate of pulse‐width‐modulated spray nozzles with adjuvants

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8831-8843, September 2026.
Optimizing PWM performance requires not only appropriate duty cycle selection, but also careful choice of adjuvant formulation tailored to each nozzle type. Drift control agents increased droplet size and reduced fine droplets, mitigating PWM‐induced variability. Decreasing the duty cycle consistently narrowed the spray angle.

The Role of Bubbles in Air‐Sea Gas Exchange: A Critical Review

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Air‐sea gas exchange regulates the exchange of climatically important gases between the ocean and the atmosphere, shaping both climate and ocean biogeochemistry. Bubbles beneath the sea surface enhance this exchange by introducing an additional transfer pathway in parallel to the interfacial transfer route.

Modelling Spatial and Temporal Controls on Leaky Wooden Dam Effectiveness for Catchment‐Scale Flood Mitigation in an Upland Catchment

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Natural Flood Management (NFM) is increasingly adopted as a sustainable strategy for mitigating flood risk. Among these measures, the installation of leaky wooden dams (LWDs) at catchment scale is a widely used intervention aimed at slowing flow and desynchronising runoff peaks between sub‐catchments, thereby reducing flood magnitude.
