Compressed-air flow control system
Lab Chip, 2011We present the construction and operation of a compressed-air driven flow system that can be used for a variety of microfluidic applications that require rapid dynamic response and precise control of multiple inlet streams. With the use of inexpensive and readily available parts, we describe how to assemble this versatile control system and further ...

Dysphagia and expiratory air flow
Dysphagia, 1993Expiratory air flow preserves the freedom of the upper airway from foodway contamination in patients with dysphagia. Valving the tracheostomy cannula, "quad coughing," the Heimlich maneuver, the "supraglottic swallow," and coupling to a ventilator each has a place among the measures used for treating aspiration.

Abstract Mechanically induced air flow is pulsating even when it may seem steady to the physical senses. This pulsation causes errors in velocity measurement that are often as great as twenty per cent when the conventional pitot tube or orifice is used with a liquid manometer, and it causes an increase in the velocity-energy and fluid ...

Air-to-Air Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems
AEI 2011, 2011Air-to-air variable refrigerant flow, or VRF, is a promising technology that could be used widely in commercial construction in the United States. This system is extremely flexible and can serve an unlimited number of zones in a building should piping lengths permit.

Physical Modeling of Air Flow During Air Sparging Remediation
Environmental Science & Technology, 2010Air sparging (AS) is one of the most efficient techniques for remediating saturated soils and groundwater contaminated with volatile organic compounds. A series of physical modeling tests for different sizes of porous media under varied injection pressure were conducted to investigate the effect of particle size and air injection pressure on size and ...
