Aircraft rerouting and rescheduling in multi-airport terminal area under disturbed conditions [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
The disturbances, caused by resource competition, weather changes, and demand uncertainties, frequently occur and result in obvious fluctuations (e.g., the increase or decrease of demand and capacity) in demand and capacity.

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Experimental and Computational Study of Trapped Vortex Combustor Sector Rig with High-Speed Diffuser Flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2001
The Trapped Vortex Combustor (TVC) potentially offers numerous operational advantages over current production gas turbine engine combustors. These include lower weight, lower pollutant emissions, effective flame stabilization, high combustion efficiency,

The effect of substrate roughness on air entrainment in dip coating

open access: yes, 2004
YesDynamic wetting failure was observed in the simple dip coating flow with a series of substrates, which had a rough side and a comparatively smoother side.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Air flow management inside data centres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A data centre can be defined as an infrastructure facility that houses file servers, processors and other computer equipment, along with a standby power supply. These servers are kept inside cabinets and those cabinets are called racks.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Optimized CT-TDLAS reconstruction performance evaluation of least squares with the polynomial-fitting method

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Computed tomography-tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (CT-TDLAS) has been widely used in the diagnosis of the combustion flow field. Several optimized CT reconstruction algorithms such as iteration methods, transformation methods, and nonlinear

The standardization of air-flow in insect suction traps

open access: yes, 1955
The air-flow and its variations in sixteen insect suction traps of five different types have been measured, using regularity of air sample size as the criterion of efficiency.
