Heterogeneity in Surface Sensing Suggests a Division of Labor in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Populations [PDF]
The second messenger signaling molecule cyclic diguanylate monophosphate (c-di-GMP) drives the transition between planktonic and biofilm growth in many bacterial species.

A microenvironment self‐adaptive nanoarmor is developed to effectively address the adhesion‐ and colonization‐related challenges posed by multiple physiological and pathological characteristics in the intestine. L. plantarum@MPN@CS showed significant therapeutic potential in treating Parkinson's disease (PD), a model for extraintestinal disorders, as ...

The microbiological quality of air improves when using air conditioning systems in cars [PDF]
Because of better comfort, air conditioning systems are a common feature in automobiles these days. However, its impact on the number of particles and microorganisms inside the vehicle--and by this its impact on the risk of an allergic reaction--is yet unknown.Over a time period of 30 months, the quality of air was investigated in three different types

We present a dual‐organ, biomarker‐integrated ovaryendometrium organ‐on‐a‐chip that recapitulates 3D tissue complexity, menstrual cycle dynamics, and hormonal crosstalk. This platform enables real‐time, cell‐typespecific fluorescent readouts of reproductive toxicity using ANGPTL4 and SERPINB2 as early‐response reporters.

QuEChER method for air microbiological monitoring in hospital environments
Introduction: Nosocomial pathogens have become a priority issue for public health, since they are responsible for increased morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients and the development of multi-resistant microorganisms, as well. Recent studies found strong evidence that airborne transmission plays a key role in many nosocomial infections. Thus,
