Dual‐Layer Living Hydrogel Enables On‐Demand Delivery of Phages and Probiotics for Synergistic Wound Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Characteristics of Laminates for Car Seats

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2020
In the presented research, 11 different laminates were compared, 8 of them were two-layered 3 of them were three-layered laminates. The laminates that were analyzed vary by the type of face-side textile material (knitted and nonwoven textiles), density ...

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Gold Nanoclusters as Dual Agents for Engineering Tumor Vascular Leakiness and Performing Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Many cancer nanotherapeutics, while potent, suffer from the inability to escape from the tumor vasculature, especially in the absence of endothelial permeability. In this work, ultrasmall gold nanoclusters could engineer nanomaterials induced endothelial leakiness (NanoEL) and harness strong NIR induced photothermal characteristics to suppress tumor ...

Air Permeability Of Sugi (Cryptomeria Japonica) Wood In The Three Directions

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2015
To investigate the air permeability of sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) and the effect of grain directions on it, the air permeabilities of air-dried sugi sapwood and heartwood were determined along the three material directions of wood.
