Financial Burden Associated With Hospitalisation Among Families of Childhood Brain Tumours in Australia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

Analysis of air quality based on national monitoring networks in the Republic of Korea, 2023 - annual trends in air quality over two decades in South Korea-

open access: yesAsian Journal of Atmospheric Environment
In this study, to assess the long-term air quality status in South Korea, we analyzed the concentration and attainment rate of air quality standards for 8 pollutants such as SO₂, NO₂, CO, O₃, PM₁₀, PM₂.₅, Pb, and benzene.

The importance of moist thermodynamics on neutral buoyancy height for plumes from anthropogenic sources [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics
Plume rise plays a critical role in dispersing pollutants emitted from tall stacks, dictating the height reached by buoyant plumes and their subsequent downwind dispersion.

Indoor Air Quality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
[Excerpt] “Indoor air quality or IAQ” is what we experience as the temperature, humidity, ventilation, and chemical or biological contaminants of the air inside non-industrial buildings, such as schools, offices, hotels, or banks – environments typically

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Turbulent transport, emissions and the role of compensating errors in chemical transport models [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2014
The balance between turbulent transport and emissions is a key issue in understanding the formation of O3 and particulate matter with diameters less than 2.5 μm (PM2.5).

A model based framework for air quality indices and population risk evaluation, with an application to the analysis of Scottish air quality data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The paper is devoted to the development of a statistical framework for air quality assessment at the country level and for the evaluation of the ambient population exposure and risk with respect to airborne pollutants.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

OR Air Quality: Is it time to consider adjunctive air cleaning technology? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Patients undergoing surgery may be at risk for infection from airborne particles such as dust, skin scales, respiratory aerosols, and hair fibers emanating from multiple sources in the OR, including personnel, heater-cooler devices, and surgical smoke ...
